Total transformation!

Eyes back on the frame...

It looked like it just needed new fabric but this chair had been recovered over its previous tired fabric and the foam was torn and reduced to dust so it got a full reupholstery and Designers Guild Matara faux leather in Onyx.

Glamorous in Wilde...

From a deep red velvet to a glamorous animal print one! Colefax & Fowler Wilde velvet in
blue has a lovely shimmer giving the chaise a luxurious feel.

A splash of Eley Kishimoto...

Those really comfortable dining chairs needed a lift so they got new foam and Trimcell faux black leather from Chieftain Fabrics for the seats and an amazing impactful print from a collaboration of Eley Kishimoto with Kirkby Design, their Stripey Zig Zag Birds pattern for the backs. Transformed!

What will it be?

This deep buttoned chaise still looks gorgeous in deep red velvet...but a radical change's
    coming!

Beautiful contrast...

Here it is now fully reupholstered with rubberised hair and cotton felt. Top fabric is by Designers Guild. Client chose beautiful complementary fabrics, a soft yellow/mustard suede like material with a metallic finish one, Ishida in Platinum.

Sprung back...

This large armchair was out of use due to the state of its base, all webbing and springs out of action. So i gave it new webs, reused the springs, new hessian and cotton felt.

Monday 25 September 2017

A bit more than a recover...

This chair came in for a just a recover and once its top fabric was removed revealed it needed much more...a full reupholstery! Although it was still comfortable, the zig zag springs were damaged, the foam was reduced to dust, the straw was still in shape but had to go to change the springs. Plus client wasn't too keen to keep the straw...

A transformed ottoman...

This ottoman got a second life thanks to a recover with Designers Guild's Arrugado Andaluz in Cobalt, a crushed velvet on linen background.

Queens Park Day

Really enjoyed Queens Park Day yesterday, meeting people with various upholstery projects... Happy to see there are so many chairs, chaises or sofas in need of tlc!
The blue chair covered with Christian Lacroix for Designers Guild velvet is still for sale as well as the cushions, except the amazing House of Hackney yellow peonies one.

Frisco Bay in Fulham...

And here is the Guy Rogers sofa finished, covered in Linwood velvet. The Frisco Bay range made in the 1960s was sold exclusively in Heals. As for the matching chairs, I just gave their seat new foam. This apartment was completely refurbished and the interior designed by Jenna Laxton.

Vintage Guy Rogers sofa to reupholster...

Beautiful danish sofa in original wool Harris Tweed that I will totally strip and reupholster...

Suede like banquette

I got to create this long fluted back banquette from scratch for a newly refurbished flat in Fulham. Material, from Impala, was chosen by Jenna Laxton who designed the stunning interior of the apartment.

Print crush...

Crush on Romo's Arcade chenille weave here in Indigo, works well with their 8-Bit Reversible print too, see my fabrics page.

Faux leather looking real...ly good!

Great client's choice of Designers Guild faux leather Mesa in navy for 6 chairs I reupholstered with new foam. It really feels like leather and has a nice soft touch...

Romantic in pink velvet...

Here it is, recovered in a beautiful shimmery velvet from Designers Guid, Appia in Pale Rose. Its back, traditionally upholstered, was in reasonable condition so I kept it but gave it a new sprung seat.

French armchair coming my way...

Beautiful armchair in need of a new seat and a recover!  The back will stay as it is holding
its shape ok, just needs a bit of restoring. Quite a lot of tacks to remove in the meantime...

Et voilĂ !...

I always love to see the transformation! This large armchair got a total revamp, its frame painted in chalk paint by its owner was already a drastic change. It has a new back and foam cushion and is recovered in a beautiful velvet raised print from Scion. And a new addition to its original design, the 5 shallow buttons.

New project on the go...

This large armchair has been painted in chalk white by the client and handed over to me for a new back and a recover. I have reupholstered the first of the pair not long ago in black and zebra print velvet.

And this is it...

Really pleased with the result, I think that colour is amazing with those legs! I used a beautiful velvet from Christian Lacroix Atelier Fabrics collection for Designers Guild in Monceau Denim. I stripped the chair totally, gave it new elastic webbing and upholstery, changed the inner back design slightly, inspired by SCP's Oscar sofa.
And the good news is that it is for sale at £685!

Last Summer...

Last Summer, I walked past that chair in a fair and fell in love with its legs! Although my house definitely doesn't need an extra armchair, I just couldn't resist buying it with straight away that colour in mind to go with the legs...That project took me a while to complete as it had to be done in between clients' work but that's it!

Nice curves and good legs...work in progress

Beautiful Guy Roger's Frisco Bay sofa for Heals in need of reupholstering, I have stripped all the foam off it and in the process of giving it some new...

Promising...

There wasn't much left of this German armchair but its shape looked very promising! Completely stripped and reupholstered with foam, I then used Marvic Textiles in Titian Bracken which I love as it kept the vintage feel and Linwood Omega in Leaf for its cushion.
G Plan chairs which had become flat due to the foam reduced to dust reupholstered and recovered, banquette cushions made up too in matching blue fabric by Marvic Textiles.

Armchair done...with a matching footstool!

How grand does it look now? Completely transformed, customer happy!

Sunday 15 January 2017

Large armchair coming for a recover and getting a little bit more...

When they bought this large comfy armchair, its owners had a clear vision for its transformation. The top fabric was in a tired condition and the back was upholstered in foam which was reduced to near dust. So I stripped it and gave the back some hessian, rubberised hair and cotton felt. Nearly finished!
