Stylish armchair coming in for a recover but had to be fully reupholstered as foam had reduced to powder and straw had to go. |
 |
Large armchair in need of a new sprung base. Springs were in good condition to be reused, the tricky part was to remove nails and lift all the outer panels to access the frame for webbing and lashing the springs without damage to the material. Good to go now once reunited with its seat cushion... |
 |
Ottoman recovered and cushion covers. |

This beautiful Guy Rogers danish sofa of the Frisco Bay range sold in Heals in the 1960s came to me in its original wool Harris Tweed and I fully reupholstered it and covered in a Linwood velvet. The matching chairs only got new foam for their seat.

Six of these mid century dining chairs got new foam, blue 1" for their seat and blue 1/2" for their back. Recovered in faux leather. |
 |
Beautiful chair traditionally upholstered in a tired state, the sprung seat not holding up anymore. The client was keen to keep the back as it was in reasonable condition. So I gave it a new sprung seat with rubberised hair and recovered the back with calico to keep it firmly in place. The client chose a velvet in Pale Rose and another ribbed for its outer back and arms, giving it a lovely soft romantic look. |
 |
This one is the second of a pair I had the pleasure to look after, a completely different look this time. Its back needed to be stripped and rebuilt with rubberised hair, coir and cotton felt. I cut out a new foam seat cushion too.
|
 |
From black faux leather to beautiful velvet. Fully reupholstered. |
 |
Large armchair upholstered in foam, I had to reupholster the back in rubberised hair as the foam was crumbling to dust. It previously had braids but was replaced by double piping. The seat got a new foam cushion and a piped boxed cover. |
 |

This 2.4m long banquette was made out of foam and covered faux leather |
Completely reupholstered this swivel reclining chair. The seat is sprung and I used rubberised hair which makes the chair really comfortable.
The frame of this chair reminded me of the ones in the beauty department of Liberty, so I decided to reupholster it and used a Liberty velvet just as they did.

These chairs originally had a horizontal stitch holding the inner back fabric tight as the back is really curvy. I didn't think that stitch was aesthetically pleasant so I proposed to have 3 panels, either with piping or plain. Plain was chosen and I think it works well, buttons were not an option either. I reinforced under the spring unit with some new webbing and added millboard to the outer back as it was lacking.

Here I made 2 box cushion covers, piped and zipped in a lovely deep blue fabric.
Quite a large armchair in a tired black velvet recovered.

A tired office/ dining chair with ripped leatherette that I stripped down, cleaned up, gave it new chip foam and faux leather.
A cocktail chair stripped back completely and reupholstered using its original spring unit, coir and rubberised hair.
This curved back needed to be completely reupholstered so back to frame and relashed all of the 25 springs. Modern material was used, the rubberised hair got a stitched roll edge on the seat.
Amazing chaise long that would have liked to be completely reupholstered but still looks uplifted with just a recover.
A 50's cocktail chair fully reupholstered with fibres and rubberised hair. The fabric is a lovely colour and texture. The curved back and spring unit make the chair really comfortable.
This armchair was poorly upholstered with basically only bits of wadding stuffed in the seat and the back. I stripped back to frame and reupholstered it with rubberised hair and millboard on the back.
This Victorian chair was upholstered using traditional methods, not a single staple! It was still quite comfortable but with the springs hanging below the seat something had to be done, well everything had to be done! Stripped back to the frame, re-sprung, patiently hand-stitched (you've got to love the craft!) and filled with fibre and hair, it was awarded a prize by the Worshipful Company of Upholders.
Those lovely chairs were given to me to be recovered. Both inner backs are silk.
This armchair needed to be reupholstered, clearly it was in a tired state and had never been reupholstered before. I stripped it back to the frame and upholstered it using rubberised hair...and staples.
I reupholstered this dining chair the traditional way, hand-stitched and filled with coir and horse hair. Finding a fabric you like, that will suit the style of the chair, its place and use in the house is not an easy one but so exciting!
This armchair was upholstered using modern materials, rubberised hair. I used Belgian military hessian bought at Ardingly fair for the outer back and the pink fabric is 100% wool.
A French armchair completely stripped, the frame needed quite a bit of repair. I used rubberised hair for the inner back but did the base of the seat traditionally to get a nicely shaped edge following the frame. The cushion also follows the shape of the frame.
Deep buttoned iron back chairs are quite hard work, they have to be upholstered traditionally and no staples or tacks for the back, it's all hand stitches! I chose green lime wool from Moon for the inner back and military hessian for the seat and outer back. I had to keep the chair for ourselves as it was such hard work!
I was given 2 of these cocktail chairs to recover. Beautiful vibrant fabric.

The client only wanted a recover for this sofa. The inner back is black velvet.
Again, a pair of cocktail chairs coming my way for a recover.
I upholstered this lovely chair using rubberised fibres.
