Little chair with a surprise...

Always a good surprise to discover a nice print when you strip a chair...although an upholsterer is meant to remove the old fabric before slapping on top the new one!

Little Osborne chair rescued...

This sweet little nursing chair from Osborne was found on the street by the client, nice find! It came in for a new back as well as a recover but the seat was in a bad state so ended stripped back to frame.

How much is that chair in the window?

This display obviously caught my eye, the colour of the velvet, the fringes...the dog! Fringes are in, we know, but I like the tassel details on the arms. Seen on Golborne Road, London, at the treasure trove Les Couilles du Chien.

A dash of Exo'Chic...

Parker Knoll 1028 Statesman footstool in for recover...

Parker Knoll footstool which used to match the renowned 1960's Stateman's chair, this one got separated though...

Same colour, different texture...

Staying in the same grey tones but changing texture, this sofa is not recovered in Designers Guild's soft finish linen cotton blend from their Manzoni range.

Out velvet, in linen...

Three seater sofa coming in for a recover...hoping for less pleats on its scroll arms.

From rattan to glamorous velvet...

The client couldn't find a blanket box to replace this one, one that would be right in size and colour so I dressed the old one in foam and covered it with Designers Guild Vicenza velvet in Moleskin. Problem solved!

Italy, diamonds...all in one chair with Hamlin by Romo!

Armchair and footstool recovered in a stepped edge geometric diamond pattern on the soft Linara brushed cotton-linen by Romo. This print is Hamlin in Eucalyptus. The original armchair's cushion was one unit with the base, it is now a separate reversible seat cushion.

Saturday, 2 June 2018

A soft Italian linen from Romo to come...

New project came in today, couldn't help stripping it straight away to see its build as all the panels are stitched together. It's in for a drastic makeover!

Roses made contemporary

The client chose this sophisticated Bloomsbury Rose soft-sheen velvet from Designers Guild for large cushion covers (60X60cm).

Designers Guild strikes again...

I made this cushion for a beautiful stained glass entrance. The fabric, Palasini linen viscose in Cobalt, is from Designers Guild. A perfect match!

From Cheltenham to London...

You never know what you will find while stripping the old fabric of a chair. This time was a note left by the previous upholsterer, lovely attention giving a little background to the chair. This armchair is coming in for a recover although it could do with a little more...

It's out!

Guy Rogers sofa now recovered in Linwood Fabrics Omega velvet, stunning jungle green colour! The foam was in good condition so no reupholstery needed, a new platform was needed thoughand the client wanted a single seat foam cushion instead of the original three.

Another Frisco Bay 3 seater by Guy Rogers coming my way...

Lovely shape, incredibly confortable...new fabric not decided yet but I will start rebuilding it, challenging metal frame!

Saturday, 3 March 2018

Like new in a vibrant canary colour!

Same colour and texture as it had previously but this time the velvet used is from Linwood Fabrics, their Omega range is washable and stain repellent, exceptionally hard-wearing and easy to care for. Colour is Canary.

Large ottoman in for a recover...

Time for this tufted ottoman to get a new top fabric, another velvet. It has some added panels on 2 sides, not necessary in my opinion but let's see, there might a reason why. Also, an usual button arrangement and placement...

Just can't get enough of this print...

This 2 seater got the same treatment as the matching 3 seater, stripped to frame and fully reupholstered. Covered in a fabulous Moroccan inspired damask velvet from Black Edition, Maroque Lazurite, and Linwood Fabrics Omega velvet for the seat cushions and outer back.

Wednesday, 31 January 2018

And now to the 2 seater!

Same treatment for this 2 seater...like the 3 seater, it had been recovered over the original fabric so far too many staples for one frame!

Black Edition Maroque Lazurite velvet it is...

Great transformation for this 3 seater sofa, a total reupholstery was needed...new webbing, hessian, foam and polyester wadding and a lot of stapling! The velvet on the inner back and below the cushions is the Maroque Lazurite velvet from Black Edition and the cushions are covered in Omega velvet from Linwood Fabrics.

Sunday, 21 January 2018

Which amazing printed velvet from Black Edition will it be?

As it often happens, this great shape 3 seater came in for a recover and ended up stripped back to frame...Definitely worth it especially since its owner chose an stunning printed velvet from Black Edition.

Glamorous in Wilde...

From a deep red velvet to a glamorous animal print one! Colefax & Fowler Wilde velvet in
blue has a lovely shimmer giving the chaise a luxurious feel.

Wednesday, 18 October 2017

A splash of Eley Kishimoto...

Those really comfortable dining chairs needed a lift so they got new foam and Trimcell faux black leather from Chieftain Fabrics for the seats and an amazing impactful print from a collaboration of Eley Kishimoto with Kirkby Design, their Stripey Zig Zag Birds pattern for the backs. Transformed!

Tuesday, 10 October 2017

What will it be?

This deep buttoned chaise still looks gorgeous in deep red velvet...but a radical change's
    coming!

Beautiful contrast...

Here it is now fully reupholstered with rubberised hair and cotton felt. Top fabric is by Designers Guild. Client chose beautiful complementary fabrics, a soft yellow/mustard suede like material with a metallic finish one, Ishida in Platinum.

Saturday, 7 October 2017

Sprung back...

This large armchair was out of use due to the state of its base, all webbing and springs out of action. So i gave it new webs, reused the springs, new hessian and cotton felt.

Monday, 25 September 2017

A bit more than a recover...

This chair came in for a just a recover and once its top fabric was removed revealed it needed much more...a full reupholstery! Although it was still comfortable, the zig zag springs were damaged, the foam was reduced to dust, the straw was still in shape but had to go to change the springs. Plus client wasn't too keen to keep the straw...

Sunday, 24 September 2017

A transformed ottoman...

This ottoman got a second life thanks to a recover with Designers Guild's Arrugado Andaluz in Cobalt, a crushed velvet on linen background.

Really enjoyed Queens Park Day yesterday, meeting people with various upholstery projects... Happy to see there are so many chairs, chaises or sofas in need of tlc!
The blue chair covered with Christian Lacroix for Designers Guild velvet is still for sale as well as the cushions, except the amazing House of Hackney yellow peonies one.
